A monster truck? Shelby has fun with fake photos galore - USA TODAY
Mar 29th 2012, 17:41

Having endured a couple difficult days with the kerfuffle over doctored photos of its new Shelby 1000, Shelby American is ready to have a little fun.

Instead of crying in a barrel of high-octane racing fuel, the aftermarket performance maker based in Las Vegas decided to show how a few more photos could be doctored to put its 950-horsepower street version, 1,100-horsepower track version wondercar in the most interesting places.

How about landing it on the deck of an aircraft carrier? Yes, Shelby has a fake photo for that. Or blistering its way down a roller coaster? The Shelby 1000 has a beefed-up frame and suspension to get it through the tightest curves. Our favorite has to be the Shelby 1000 as a monster truck. Heck, yeah!

As you will recall, the firm still controlled by auto legend Carroll Shelby said it accidentally released photos of a Shelby 1000 that had been doctored to look like the front end is lifting off the ground, apparently during hard acceleration. The car can't do that. Or at least it hasn't done it yet. Now, Shelby is focused on giving the car a proper unveiling next week at the New York Auto Show.
